Children

Is your child struggling with low self-esteem, lacking in confidence in certain areas, finding it difficult to control their emotions or you’ve noticed they’ve lost their smile? This is where I can help and can support your child or teen to give them the skills and practical strategies to overcome challenges. They may be struggling with emotions such as anger, anxiety, lack of self-belief, negativity and stress. I can help build their confidence to develop a positive mindset.

By building their self-belief and giving them practical strategies, this will bring about positive change that will empower your child to deal with future situations and help prevent future mental health issues.

I have well over 20 years of experience of working with children and their families. I offer effective and practical support to help them navigate through tough times and steer out of challenging situations.

I have studied extensively a specialist approach specifically for coaching children (The Ollie Method, Alison Knowles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-q-FiRXjBw&t=7s).This method focuses on supporting and empowering children to take back control of their emotions. It works by disassociating them from an issue that is causing them stress, using child friendly language about how their mind works and why we feel what we feel, so that children can engage in change work. This method allows children to take an active role in working through their issues so they can see the difference they can make to their own behaviour and feelings.

For children who find talking about their emotions challenging I am also a qualified Drawing and Talking Practitioner. Drawing and Talking is a therapeutic intervention for children, young people and adults. It is designed as a short-term, pro-active intervention through a 12-week cycle of 30-minute one-to-one sessions, this non-intrusive tool allows children, young people and adults to process emotional pain resulting from trauma. The child or adult utilises drawing to help them express their feelings differently from ordinary verbal language.

I recognise the importance of working closely with the family as well as giving children the opportunity of a safe space to share their worries and concerns. I always welcome parents to be very much part of the process although find children tend to share more when parents aren’t around!
