My approach

All my sessions are client led and you choose which direction we will go. Whether you have an awareness of what the problem may be or need support to explore where feelings are originating from, I offer no- judgement space and want clients to share whatever is causing them distress, feeling totally comfortable and confident of complete confidentiality.


For many people the first session alone can be a significant relief, often they have been storing up difficult feelings and worries for a long time, bravely battling on feeling all alone. The hardest part is often taking the first step and finding a counsellor to help you or your child. Opening up and beginning to share difficult thoughts and feelings can immediately take some of the strength of these negative feelings away. 

Throughout our sessions we work together to understand how your life experiences and beliefs have influenced how you feel about yourself – and the behaviours this may lead to. We listen to all the different voices in your head, that we all have – it’s important they all have some airtime as they all serve a purpose. In feeling heard and understood, these different emotions can stop shouting so loud, can stop competing for your time – and can begin to work together not against each other, bringing about the new you, you maybe striving for.

Duration and timing of sessions

I use a solution focussed approach, with therapy typically lasting between 6 to 10 sessions. It can take less, as even from the first session changes can start to take place. These sessions can take place weekly or fortnightly, to suit your needs.

A session can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I offer daytime and evening sessions, including some weekends. Please get in touch for details of my availability.


Payment and Cancellations

I do understand that from time to time you may need to rearrange a session. If you need to cancel an agreed session, please give 48 hours’ notice. If the 48 hours’ notice is given, then no charge will be made. However, if you cancel with less than 48 hours before your session is due to start, then the session will need to be paid for. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash.

Confidentiality and Contracts.

Our therapy sessions will remain confidential between us and this will be explained in the first session. Your privacy is of utmost importance please be reassured that any information held will be anonymous and will also kept securely in accordance with the GDPR compliance legislation and Data Protection Act 2018. As part of the initial sessions, we will agree on a simple contract together, this will allow us to be clear on what to expect of the therapeutic process.


I am fully Insured and have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
